Full job description
Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Customer Service Representative/Estimator is to develop cost estimates for jobs that range from routine to complex. This role assists the sales and account representatives in providing quotes for various print projects. Estimators interact daily with many types of contacts, both inside and outside the company to successfully complete estimates. In addition, in this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a customer relationship with a select group of clients whose projects move through the facility on a regular basis. Working with the Sales team in addressing the customers requests as needed.
Primary Role:
Review and analyze customer specifications to prepare time and cost estimates for materials, labor, and outside vendor processes.
Manage incoming email and hard copy estimates requests.
Utilize Monarch estimating software to create estimates.
Evaluate and provide estimates based on the most economical method and possible alternatives.
Develop knowledge of all different papers and materials available, recommend cost saving opportunities when possible.
Work with our mailing facility to quote and apply USPS mailing standards and rules in preparing estimates for mailed products.
Revise estimates as needed due to changes.
Consult with sales, vendors, and appropriate personnel in other departments to discuss estimates and resolve production issues as needed.
Use estimating standard work procedures, assure accuracy targets are met prior to delivering an estimate.
Receive orders by phone, e-mail or from Sales Reps.
Entering an accurate ticket in Monarch for the necessary work to be done for the customer.
Obtain answers from manufacturing regarding specifications, changes and scheduling requirements.
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
Experience estimating projects for a web or sheet fed printing company.
Strong math, computer, problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to read and interpret customer specifications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize work activities for working on multiple projects of different sizes and scope at the same time.
Self-directed and self-motivated with a proven work ethic.
Excellent customer service and business relationship-building skills.
Experience with variety of paper substrates in different printing processes, understanding of paper terminology and paper pricing.
