Job Role Summary
Perform duties associated with the preparation of certified copies of birth or death records to be sold to customers by using the Onbase imaging system, Netsmart and IPHIS software systems. ASSISTS WITH and analyzes, researches and processes legal corrections, certifiable facts and changes to all Marion County records. ASSISTS WITH scheduling appointments for customers in need of corrections to birth records in person, by telephone and by mail. ASSISTS WITH making corrections for customers on a walk-in basis who provide required documentation and identification. Records consist of court orders, affidavits of requesting amendments, adoptions, corrections by notification, paternity affidavits/paternity affidavits upon marriage, and home births. Communicates courteously and tactfully with all customers and staff. Customer Service duties takes priority over corrections duties. The CSS position is not the assistant to the Corrections Specialist, but rather assists with corrections duties after Customer Service duties have been satisfied.

Knowledge of
Standard office procedures, vital records practices and procedures
PC operations and Windows xp
Customer service
Ability to: Operate microfilm and microfiche readers
Operate standard office equipment
Type 30 wpm accurately
Use multiple applications simultaneously
Work effectively with others
Communicate courteously and tactfully with customers, internal and external agencies and staff
Follow written and verbal instructions
Skills and knowledge acquired through: Completion of high school or equivalent
Operate PC using database programs
Familiar with operation of printers, fax, copiers
One year related office experience
CONTACTS - INTERNAL/EXTERNAL: Daily contact with public, ISDH, governmental agencies, courts, prosecutor's office, law enforcement, and co-workers
MENTAL/VISUAL/PHYSICAL STRAIN: Confined sitting and steady use of hands/fingers
Extended Wednesday hours and/or during emergencies

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma
1 to 3 years previous office/customer service experience
