About the Role
Cardiovascular Associates of America (CVAUSA) is seeking a mission-driven, organized, and collaborative intern to support the launch and early implementation of the Access to Care Charter — a voluntary, national initiative aimed at expanding cardiovascular care access for underserved populations.
This project-based internship offers hands-on experience in operationalizing health equity strategies in a real-world clinical setting, with a focus on stakeholder coordination, performance tracking, and strategic communication. You will work closely with CVAUSA’s ESG Committee, which leads the organization’s equity and sustainability agenda, and the Medical Leadership Board, which oversees clinical implementation across the CVAUSA network.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the rollout of the Access to Care Charter across participating CVAUSA practices.
  • Prepare onboarding materials for new Charter signatories.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather information on social initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking dashboards to monitor Charter participation and progress.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications, including newsletters, webinars, and educational content.
  • Help design and disseminate a menu of Access to Care initiatives and best practice examples.
  • Compile and analyze simple progress metrics (e.g., telehealth adoption, financial assistance volume) for reporting purposes.
  • Develop internal summaries and case studies highlighting early impact and standout implementation examples.
  • Draft briefing materials and presentation content for the Medical Leadership Board.
  • Conduct research on community health partnerships, culturally competent care, and equity-focused cardiovascular innovations.
  • Support project management tasks, including milestone tracking, workflow organization, and stakeholder follow-up.
Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in economics, public health, health administration, sustainability, business, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a team-based or cross-functional setting (academic, work, or volunteer).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, research, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and collaboration tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva, Zoom).
  • Interest in healthcare equity, clinical operations, or sustainability in medicine.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, social impact, or patient advocacy is a plus.
What You’ll Gain
  • Practical skills in stakeholder coordination, data analysis, and health equity communications.
  • Exposure to the national implementation of value-based and sustainable care models.
  • Collaboration with executive and physician leadership at a leading cardiovascular network.
  • The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to efforts that expand care access for underserved communities.
  • A strong foundation for future roles in public health, healthcare innovation, or ESG strategy.
