CVOR Surgical Technologist

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and the OR team during cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms and sterile equipment per procedure protocols.
• Ensure instruments and supplies are appropriately handled and available.
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with RNs, Anesthesia, and fellow techs to deliver high-quality care.
• Maintain accurate counts of surgical tools and sponges before and after procedures.
• Participate in departmental quality and safety initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education & Certifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist by one of the following:
  • NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
  • NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
  • Must provide active CST certification number and expiration date.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program required.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of current, hands-on CVOR surgical tech experience.
• Prior experience in a high-volume or tertiary care CVOR is highly preferred.

Must-Haves

1. Active CST certification through NBSTSA or NCCT (include CST# and expiration).
2. At least 1 year of recent CVOR experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
3. Accurate and updated resume with correct dates and unit details.
4. Stable work history is required. Job transitions must include valid reasoning (e.g., relocation, promotion).
5. Clear unit, shift, and location preferences must be communicated upfront to ensure best fit.
