DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This job description is a record of the essential functions of the listed job. POPULATION SERVED
The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) is responsible for providing restorative nursing care to ensure patients attain or maintain the highest possible physical ability. The RNA provides care to patients that are designed to strengthen muscle, assist with mobility, promote independence and prevent functional declines. This is in accordance with Central Valley Specialty Hospital’s policies and procedures, our current standards of care and applicable state/federal regulations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The RNA must possess current Certified Nursing Assistant status in accordance with statutory requirements. CPR certification. The RNA must have completed additional instruction and training in restorative care procedures and have appropriate documentation as evidence contained in their employment file.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The job requires good physical health. Physical activities may include lifting, rotating and assisting patients who are partially or totally dependent for moving about. Other activity requirements of the RNA are stooping, bending, standing and walking most of an eight-hour shift. RNA’s must be willing and able to work a flexible shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The RNA must possess and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of safe, restorative nursing care practices. The RNA must also be able to verbalize and demonstrate appropriate knowledge of good body mechanics, as well as the ability to document the effectiveness of the restorative care received by the patient. Under circumstances in which differentiation between body fluid types is difficult or impossible, all body fluids shall be considered potentially infectious materials. All blood or other potentially infectious materials will be considered infectious regardless of the status.
