We are currently seeking a seasoned Cyber Facultative Senior Underwriter to join our team. This role is responsible for underwriting complex facultative cyber reinsurance opportunities, managing broker relationships, and contributing to the profitable growth of our cyber reinsurance portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite facultative cyber reinsurance submissions, including large and complex domestic and multinational risks.
- Evaluate individual cyber reinsurance opportunities by analyzing cedent information, underlying insurance programs, cyber security controls, loss history, and accumulation exposures.
- Structure and negotiate facultative reinsurance terms, conditions, pricing, and capacity deployment in accordance with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, cedents, and strategic business partners to support portfolio growth and market presence.
- Collaborate with global underwriting, actuarial, claims, risk engineering, and accumulation management teams on complex cyber exposures.
- Monitor emerging cyber threats, industry trends, legal and regulatory developments, and market conditions to inform underwriting strategy and portfolio management.
- Maintain underwriting discipline while achieving production, retention, and profitability goals.
- Participate in client and broker meetings, industry events, and market presentations to strengthen HDI's facultative cyber reinsurance presence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; CPCU, ARe, CISSP, CISM, or other relevant professional designations are a plus.
- 5+ years of commercial insurance, reinsurance, or specialty underwriting experience, with significant experience in cyber insurance and/or cyber reinsurance.
- Strong knowledge of cyber risk exposures, including ransomware, privacy liability, network security, business interruption, technology errors and omissions, and emerging cyber threats.
- Demonstrated experience underwriting facultative reinsurance business, including pricing, coverage analysis, and contract negotiations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex cyber risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a strong broker and client-focused approach.
- Proven ability to develop and manage senior-level broker, cedent, and client relationships.
- Familiarity with global cyber insurance and reinsurance programs, multinational placements, and facultative market practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, global environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed for broker, cedent, and client meetings.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary range for this position is $150,000-175,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and location.
