Job Title: Cybersecurity Senior Project Manager
Primary Location: Hybrid, 3 Days in Northbrook, Illinois
Position Type: W-2 Long-Term Contract (September 2026 - September 2027)
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of small to medium-sized cybersecurity projects. This individual will report to the Cybersecurity Program and Performance Manager and will be accountable for projects focused particularly on application controls and identity and access controls.
The ideal candidate has strong IT or cybersecurity project management experience, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and the ability to successfully manage project scope, budgets, risks, resources, governance, and interdependencies in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do
Manage the implementation and delivery of small to medium-sized cybersecurity projects.
Provide leadership, direction, and support to project team members.
Serve as the primary contact for project activities, issues, risks, and escalations.
Develop comprehensive project plans and oversee daily execution throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project progress, deliverables, dependencies, budgets, and financial performance.
Manage project resources and coordinate across related initiatives.
Partner closely with IT teams to plan and implement cybersecurity solutions.
Interface with business unit leaders and Finance to develop ROI, IRR, and other financial measures.
Manage stakeholder communications, sponsor reporting, and executive-level escalations.
Ensure adherence to established program and project governance controls.
Align project deliverables with intended business and cybersecurity outcomes.
Partner with the Cybersecurity Leadership Team and Business Change Manager.
Follow all applicable physical and digital security practices and the organization's Code of Conduct.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Role
Professional Experience
More than four years of project management experience.
Demonstrated experience leading IT or cybersecurity projects.
Experience managing projects involving application controls and identity and access controls.
Experience using project and business management tools such as Visio, Microsoft Project, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Power BI.
Strong understanding of project management principles, governance, risk management, budgeting, and resource coordination.
Knowledge of software development lifecycles and delivery methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and iterative approaches.
Skills and Competencies
Strong project management and team leadership capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with sponsor reporting, stakeholder management, and escalation.
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Strong facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to anticipate project risks and develop timely solutions.
Comfort working under pressure and navigating ambiguity, frequent change, and unpredictability.
Ability to understand business goals and ongoing IT challenges and connect project outcomes to organizational success.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business, or a related field.
PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or another recognized project management certification is preferred but not required.
Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position is $50 - $60 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
