HematoLogics has an exciting opportunity for a Cytogenetics Technician I (in training) to join our team onsite at our laboratory on the Seattle waterfront. This is a dynamic position requiring the ability to provide accurate and precise clinical laboratory services while being able to shift between multiple different duties and roles fluidly. We are seeking a candidate with both strong interpersonal and laboratory skills to be able to work successfully with the Cytogenetics team as well as the other teams in our medical practice. Responsibilities including but not limited to:



  • Participate in Cytogenetics wet lab rotations and/or FISH wet lab and FISH analysis rotations

  • Rotation coverage as assigned by your Supervisor or director(s)

  • Communication with Supervisor and section director(s) regarding daily workflow and case progression

  • Alert director(s) to critical findings, issues, or delays in analysis

  • Communicate with team members daily regarding workflow and section needs

  • Review SOPs annually and follow SOPs to perform daily clinical workflow

  • Participation in section quality management activities

  • Participate in annual competency assessments

  • Participate in Proficiency Testing (CAP) if required

  • Assist the laboratory in maintain compliance with CLIA and CAP requirements with participation in onsite inspections

  • Work rotating weekend days (Saturday and/or Sunday) as needed


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree or a Bachelor of Arts degree that meets the ASCP requirements for a Cytogenetics certification

  • Experience in a clinical laboratory preferred

  • Works successfully in a team environment

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Excellent critical thinking skills

  • Passion for providing high-quality and industry-leading diagnostic services as well as patient care

  • Ability to complete tasks successfully and efficiently, as delegated by Supervisor/Director

  • Deeply committed to continuous learning and staying abreast of scientific advances

  • Commitment to becoming ASCP certified


Level I Technician


An entry-level position with at least 1 year of relevant clinical laboratory experience strongly preferred.

Full-time physical presence at our Seattle laboratory is an essential job function of this role.



Compensation & Benefits Package:


HematoLogics offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package which includes medical, vision, and dental insurance with 100% of monthly premiums paid by the company for employees and 50% of premiums paid for an employee’s spouse/partner/dependents. Long-term disability coverage is provided with 100% of monthly premiums paid for by the company. We offer up to 6% match at 6 months tenure and beyond for 401K contributions by the employee.



We offer 12 days of vacation (on an accrual basis), 10 days of sick time (front-loaded at the time of your start date), and 11 paid holidays. We offer tuition reimbursement, anniversary awards, profit-sharing programs, 100% coverage of ORCA card or $50 per month onsite parking, and a variety of other benefits to recognize our team’s meaningful contributions to patient care and the company.
