Daily Money Manager /Operations Associate

Job Description - Daily Money Manager /Operations Associate

Hybrid - Daily Money Manager / Operations Associate

Are you a financially and tech savvy person seeking challenging, rewarding work where you can make a real difference for your clients and be part of the operations team to support the business? This hybrid role is a great opportunity!

Everyday Money Management (EMM) is the largest daily money management firm in the metro DC area (currently 26 strong), providing day-to-day financial management services to clients. We are in search of a person who wants to work with clients and also has a desire to work behind the scenes on company systems and processes. The ideal candidate should have financial management and client service skills as well as a strong background in operations and technology and the desire to work within a team.

As a daily money manager, no two days - or clients - are alike. One day you might be helping a recent widow pay her bills. The next day you might be tracking expenses for a busy professional couple. On the third day you might be locating and organizing tax documents to send to a CPA. The variety of the work allows you to establish a flexible work schedule that meets your needs.

Daily money managers do the following for their clients, and more:

  • Review client mail and assist client with responses

  • Prepare checks for client signature or pay bills online

  • Maintain income/expense record in Quicken

  • Maintain paper and/or computer files

  • Organize tax documents; liaise with client's CPA

  • Manage insurance claims process

  • Prepare budgets, cash flow analyses and other financial reports

  • Document client's financial life

  • Work with client's family and professional team

On the operations side, your tech support work may vary each day, while other tasks may be more project based and longer term. In this role you will assist with and support:

  • General tech troubleshooting for all team members for EMM’s systems (in conjunction with EMM’s MSP)

  • Process development and documentation for EMM’s systems (primarily Zoho, but also LastPass, Lessonly and Office 365)

  • Purchase and tracking of equipment and work with EMM’s MSP and other vendors

  • Systems and data audits as well as practice compliance requirements

  • Research and development of new systems as required by the business

  • Operations activities and reporting, including management reports and marketing delivery

Please note that this position involves serving members of vulnerable groups and close interaction with clients and their families and caregivers. It also involves working with the entire EMM team, including the management team. You should have:

  • A desire to work with clients, primarily seniors, to support their day-to-day financial needs and great interpersonal skills and a desire to provide "financial care management" to seniors and busy professionals

  • Strong personal finance knowledge needed to guide clients and to manage engagements independently

  • Experience in operations work and a solid understanding of technology systems and the ability to troubleshoot common software and permission/access issues

  • Strong process-development skills, including the ability to evaluate workflows, identify improvements, and document clear procedures

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage both daily support requests and longer-term projects

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to conduct accurate system, data, and compliance audits

  • A comfort level with learning new systems and adapting to changing technology and business needs

  • The ability to prioritize competing requests, work independently, and follow through on assignments

This is a 30 hr/week job (minimum work requirement), weekday hours, serving clients in DC/MD/VA, or remotely, and performing operations and technology work. Our daily money managers serve some clients in person within a 30-minute drive from their homes. Some client work, and all operations and technology work, will be performed from your home office.

  • Knowledge of or experience with Zoho, LastPass, and Quicken or QuickBooks is a plus

Benefits

  • Salary: Starting at $40-45/hr

  • Flexible schedule

  • Some work from home

  • Annual Bonus

  • 401K with company match
