Job Description - Dakota Station Floater (current PIIC employee or Tribal member)
Internal Opening (current PIIC employees and Prairie Island Tribal members only)
This position will remain open until filled.
SUMMARY:
The Floater is responsible for supporting the efforts of the convenience store by providing a quality service experience for our customers in a profitable manner for Dakota Station. This position will provide this service by maintaining a clean and organized floor space and stock room for the Dakota Station. This position will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and seasonal snow removal on the sidewalks and walkways outside the building and helping to troubleshoot issues with fuel pumps.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.
Daily general cleaning of the store includes bathrooms, garbage and deep cleans per manager’s discretion.
Stock groceries on delivery days
Stock coolers daily and rotate back-stock to maintain FIFO
Sweep and mop on assigned days and/or as needed
Special organization projects
Help maintain chemical labeling
Participate in monthly safety meetings, as needed
Back up cashiering as needed to cover breaks or other cashier deficits
All other duties assigned by manager
Scheduled hours may vary during the week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of basic business practices
Basic math and money handling skills
Ability to accurately take notes and communicate safety needs with the safety coordinator
Understanding of cleaning chemical interactions or willingness to learn within 60 days of hire
Willingness and flexibility to be available to cover all shifts, including weekends, events and holidays, as necessary
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
Ability to work well within the existing team and government structure
Sensitive to Native American Culture
Must pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background check
Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability
Preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
First aid and Safety meeting training
Cashiering experience (willing to train)
Microsoft Office skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: *
Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
Must be able to stand or walk up to ten hours per day regularly
REQUIRED TRAINING:
Effectively Handling Harassment training
Any position-related training as determined by department manager
Serve Safe Manager Training or able to obtain within 60 days of food operations
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in a convenience store setting, but may include occasional outdoor activities
