Dance Instructor

SUMMARY:  

This job includes instruction and education of children between the age(s) of 3-18 years in various dance disciplines such as ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, acro, hip hop, lyrical, modern, and creative movement.  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Requirements - 

• 18 years of age  


• Reliable childcare and transportation 


• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights/weekends 


• Pass a background check

Electronics - 

• Must have a device where company apps can be downloaded 


• Must have your own working email address  

Physical Demands - 

• Demonstrate various progressions or skills with arms, legs, head, etc. 


• Be on your feet and active for an hour or more at a time 


• Spot all skills required of the classes that you are teaching  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following: 

• Develop lesson plans containing original exercises and combinations that utilize students’ appropriate technique level and safely continue to develop and advance their skill set within the parameters of that discipline 


• Prepare a routine for each class at end of season to showcase students’ abilities and progressions throughout the year (including music, costumes, blockings, and choreography) 


• Ability to handle high pressure situations such as accidents and minor injuries 


• Being on time, dependable, and maintain the same schedule  


• Communicating with parents throughout sessions when necessary  


• Be able to have effective class management skills and effectively correcting poor behavior 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

• Dance teaching experience and dance education is preferred 


• Dance training of 5 years or more is required 


• Working towards or obtained a G.E.D. or High School Diploma 

• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date 

WORK CONDITIONS: 

• Dance facilities are covered, climate-controlled facilities 


• Instructor will teach a class of up to 25 children for 45-60 minutes at a time
