JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analyst II will work with data from internalelectric and fiber-related systems and external data, integrating them as partof addressing business and operational questions. The successful candidate willtranslate information to guide insightful business decisions. The Data AnalystII will conduct a complete lifecycle analysis, including requirements, design,testing, and delivery. The incumbent will also monitor performance and qualitycontrol plans to identify improvements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-Gather analytic requirements from business andoperational stakeholders, design analytic approach, implement approach usingvarious tools, develop visualization/dashboards, communicate and presentfindings and actionable insights to business stakeholders and non-technicalaudiences.
-Take ownership of data quality, data reliability, and ranges of uncertaintyaround analytic results
-Partner with various departments to define core metrics; measure and optimizeimpact and efficiencies; identify opportunities, assess risk potentials, andexplain trends; to drive customer and revenue growth.
-Apply strong business judgment to data analysis, and make and defendmeaningful conclusions and recommendations.
-Build, maintain, and communicate detailed reporting, visualization, and othertools to deliver business insights and drive business actions.
-Use statistical methodologies to create algorithms for analyzing large datasets
-Inspect, clean, transform, model, and integrate data from a variety of sources
-Perform root cause analysis on data anomalies to identify business andoperational process improvement areas.
-Implement specified quality assurance procedures to ensure data accuracy,results, written reports, and presentation materials.
-Create appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand thesteps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis ifnecessary.
-Serve as an organizational resource on analytics by providing expertise toassist users in meeting their needs.
-Creates and maintains a data dictionary and metadata.
-Provide training, coaching, and guidance to other analysts.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
-BS/MA in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science,Electrical Engineering, or related field. (An equivalent combination oftraining and experience may be considered.).
-2-4+ years of experience in data engineering, business analysis, or datascience (a Master's degree can substitute for two years of experience).
-Data Analyst experience with Utilities, Electric Distribution Systems,Distributed Energy Resources, and Energy Demand is a plus.
-Strong database and SQL skills (Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
-Experience with PowerBI, Cognos, or other BI reporting tools (PowerBI stronglypreferred)
-Some experience with tools such as Python, R, and Java.
-Some experience with data integration tools such as Talend, Informatica, andDataStage.
-Strong Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) skills.
CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-Possess and maintain a current, valid driver'slicense in state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible operation ofmotor vehicles.
-A self-learner and starter, willing to dig, and able to work independently orwith teams.
-Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems.
-Ability to efficiently communicate data analytics methods and complex problemsto non-technical teams and stakeholders.
-Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technicalchallenges in an enterprise environment.
-High-level written and verbal communication skills.
-Experience in Utility or Telecommunication is a plus.
