Job Description - Data Architect

In April 2021, Suburban sold its dealership operations and non-dealership business operations remained under the sole direction of the Fischer family, and Suburban Automotive Services was born.

On one side , GLS NA specializes in vehicle management and event support, managing a fleet of over 90,000 vehicles and supporting over 1,100 automotive shows and events. With 18 locations across North America, GLS NA serves eight major automotive brands and has built a reputation for exceptional customer satisfaction and innovative solutions over more than 11 years. On the other side, Suburban Accessories focuses on the distribution of OEM accessories and parts. As the country's largest distributor of GM and Ford accessories, we serve authorized dealers and independent garages in the Midwest and Florida.

As the Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the data architecture for our organization, with a focus on Snowflake. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to understand business requirements, ensure data integrity, and optimize data storage and retrieval processes. Experience with Fivetran as our ETL solution is essential.

Data Architect Responsibilities Include: Design and implement scalable data architectures using Snowflake.
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Fivetran to ensure data is accurately and efficiently loaded into the data warehouse.
Create and maintain comprehensive data models that support business intelligence and analytical needs.
Create reports and business dashboards to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across all data platforms.
Manage and optimize database performance, including tuning and indexing.
Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
Interface with business subject matter experts to gather requirements for data modeling, reporting, and business dashboards.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data architecture and management.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in data processes and systems.
Lead initiatives to implement new data tools and technologies.
Data Architect Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role.
Strong expertise in Snowflake, including experience with Snowflake data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization.
Extensive experience with data modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Proficiency in SQL and other database management languages.
Experience with Fivetran and other ETL/ELT tools and processes.
Experience with data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting applications such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Sisense, or Qlik.
Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with other data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, and Google BigQuery) is a plus.
Experience with source applications such as NetSuite ERP and Ceridian Dayforce.
Experience with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) processes.
Understanding of accounting reporting.
Understanding of sales and inventory reporting.
Certification in Snowflake or related technologies is preferred but not required.
