Data Engineer

FP Markets Group of Companies is a well-established multi-regulated broker, founded in Australia, offering traders access to CFD trading on Forex, Indices, Commodities, Stocks and Cryptocurrencies. We are growing and looking to recruit a Full-time Data Engineer in Cyprus office - a certified Great Place to Work®.

As a Data Engineer, you'll drive the development of data integration solutions using modern cloud-based tools, design rich data models, and contribute to the enhancement of our data infrastructure.

Reporting to: Head of Data & Analytics

Responsibilities:

• Develop data integration solutions for the extraction, transformation and loading of data into Datalake / Data Warehouse using modern cloud-based solutions
• Design and develop rich data models for data analysis purposes
• Develop import procedures for gathering, storing, and analysing corporate data from various sources
• Actively contribute to the continued design and development of organisation’s current data estate
• Analyse business requirements and develop unique simple solutions to meet the immediate and long-term BI demands of the group

Candidate profile:

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
• At least 4 years experience in a similar position in a financial services organisation
• Strong SQL skills along with strong Data Warehouse design principles knowledge
• Good understanding of Datalake design practices along with basic storage formats like csv, json, parquet etc
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming languages like Python and Scala
• Ability to translate complex source data into a consumable format and structure
• Strong business acumen, analytical skills, logical analysis, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to design and implement complex, multi-step pipelines that orchestrate data movement across different data stores
• Ability in liaising with product management and content owners to produce impactful visualisations
• Fluency in English is essential
• Team player and excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Interest in data modelling and statistical analysis with Python or R
• Familiarity with Fabric / Azure cloud ecosystem
• Experience in financial markets
• Good knowledge in data visualisation, including dashboard development and design principles using Power BI or Tableau or other reporting tools
• Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence others
