Jacobs serves many markets in our People and Places Business that include: Water, Transportation, Built Environment, Advanced Facilities, Health, and Power. We are looking for a Data Scientist to help our company, clients, and communities discover hidden value from infrastructure operational data systems and open data: both raw and synthetically generated. We will rely on you, working as a member of our multi-discipline teams, to build data-driven solutions that positively impact our communities.

As a member of our multi-discipline, highly interactive team you will collaborate with Jacobs’ subject matter experts and solution development teams to propose solutions and strategies to solve business challenges.

To be successful in this position you will need to be highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math, and statistics. You will also need strong critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills as your role will require you to interpret and present data. If you have a passion for applications of machine learning, a great business acumen and are driven by collaboration and challenging the status quo, this could be the perfect role for you!

Typical activities will include:

· Identify data sources and automate collection processes

· Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data

· Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns

· Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms

· Combine models through ensemble modeling

· Present information using data visualization techniques

· Prepare documentation explaining results

Here’s what you’ll need :

Required Qualifications: · Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics or closely related major· Previous internship, project, or work experience in data analytics, data mining, or data science · Experience with Python, R, and/or SQL· Familiarity or passion to learn JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, C#, and/or C ; GitHub and Azure DevOps· Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Mongo)· Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills Preferred Qualifications · Advanced (Masters or PhD) degree in Data Science or other quantitative · Previous internship or work experience in data analytics or data science · Experience applying data science in Jacobs’ markets, especially water and wastewater applications· Understanding of machine-learning workflows, data management, technology stacks
