Job Description - Data Engineer (REMOTE) - Competitive Pay

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients or management to understand data requirements and needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers and business analysts, to define data requirements and ensure data-driven decision-making.
  • Create and maintain data pipelines for collecting, processing, and storing data from various sources.
  • Design and manage data lake houses to support analytical and reporting needs.
  • Create and maintain data models that align with business requirements and facilitate efficient data retrieval.
  • Analyze and interpret large and complex datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models for predictive analytics and forecasting.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement and monitor data security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for data engineering processes and best practices.
  • Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions accordingly.
  • Continuously monitor and improve data infrastructure to ensure efficiency and scalability
  • Develop best practice, processes, and standards for effectively carrying out data strategy activities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines for all migrated data.
  • Administer and optimize databases for performance, scalability, and security.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of IT experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or other engineering or technical discipline (or 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Familiarity with data fabric/ETL tools like Talend
  • Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools like Apache NiFi or Apache Airflow
  • Understanding of data modeling and data architecture best practices.
  • Familiarity with event driven and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with AWS cloud offerings (S3, Redshift, Lake Formation etc)
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases).
  • Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust

Candidates that do not meet the required qualifications will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience using Pearl Scripting, ability to write and reverse engineer scripts, to rewrite using SQL.
  • Familiarity with client specific solution components, such as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Solution (DMLSS), Military Health Services (MHS) GENESIS, LogiCole, Cerner Millennium and/or InterSystems (HealthConnect/IRIS/HealthShare)
  • Automated Engineering Management System/Medical Equipment Reporting System (AEMS/MERS), Equipment/Turn-In Request (EQUIP), Maximo Enterprise Asset and Work Management System (EAWM), Point of Use Family of Systems (PoU FoS), Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), and Strategic Equipment Planning Guide (SEPG)/Enterprise Equipment Request (EER) experience a plus
  • Experience working in the Federal Government, Veteran's Administration (VA) experience a plus
  • Active clearance for Public Trust Position
