About the role:
We’re looking for a detail-driven, highly organized Data Operations Engineer to take ownership of how data flows through Cyvl’s production systems. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our geospatial deliverables move efficiently and accurately from raw sensor ingest to client-ready outputs—spotting issues early, fixing them fast, and continuously improving the pipeline. This is a core technical role that blends process thinking, problem-solving, and automation. You’ll be expected to leverage emerging AI tools to detect errors, accelerate workflows, and scale your impact across the data pipeline. What you’ll do
- Monitor and manage jobs as they progress through our internal data pipelines
- Troubleshoot issues with job processing (e.g., bugs, file errors, broken workflows)
- Repair data problems through a mix of software fixes and manual interventions
- Coordinate with GIS analysts to ensure data quality and timely handoffs
- Work with other Data Operations Engineers to improve and scale internal tools
- Help document and standardize recurring workflows and issue resolutions
- Provide technical support to the customer success team for complex delivery issues
- Identify and utilize emerging AI tools to streamline data workflows, detect anomalies, and increase throughput
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with proven attention to detail
- Proficient in Python and Unix-based command line tools
- Experience working with geospatial data, cloud pipelines, or automation tools
- Comfortable navigating large datasets and debugging pipeline issues
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to teammates
- Fast learner who enjoys diagnosing and solving complex problems
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GIS tools such as QGIS, PostGIS, or ArcGIS
- Experience with cloud storage platforms (e.g., AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage)
- Experience building or maintaining automated ETL/data pipelines
- Exposure to sensor-based data
- Experience supporting customer-facing data deliverables or technical support
