The Data Steward is a hybrid role which is responsible for the quality and maintenance of Child Care Services program data, performing testing on data systems, and verifying provider’s eligibility with defined training requirements. This position strives to fulfill the mission of United Way of Connecticut (UWC) at all times while at work.
Essential Functions:
Defines data elements and assists in establishing policies and procedures related to the collection and accuracy of data.
Documents, implements, and enforces database usage standards.
Documents and maintains business process documentation.
Researches, evaluates and verifies providers’ completion of Provider Orientation Project (POP) training.
Effectively communicates verified results with defined C4K and 211 Child Care team members.
Assesses and monitors data to ensure its quality and integrity.
Creates and delivers ad-hoc and institutional reports.
Collaborates with key business team members to resolve issues related to standards and definitions of data elements.
Participates in user acceptance testing to ensure that defined requirements are met.
Collects and analyzes data from multiple sources to identify trends. Reports outcomes and measurements and recommends improvements.
Enters accurate case data including narrative and statistical records of all client contacts.
Maintains reporting schedule to ensure defined deliverables are accurate and timely.
Evaluates the effectiveness of current systems, identifies the need for improvements, and recommends solutions.

The Pay & Benefits: $24.64 per hour pay rate. Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking applicants who are hired and pass certificationafter 90 days on the jobwill get an additional $.75 per hour (an additional $1.50 per hour for both languages).

The Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m. position will be hybrid (2 days in office and 3 days remote).
Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, computer science, or related field and one year’s experience; or Associate’s degree in business administration, information systems, computer science or related field and three years’ experience; or one year of post-secondary education and five years’ experience.
Possess knowledge of the operational processes and data systems.
Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
May be required to work outside regular office hours and adhere to specified emergency response times.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in day-to-day duties.
Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills.
Strong customer focus in all tasks and activities, even while under pressure.
Solid problem solving skills through analysis and on-going feedback.
Ability to work and produce in a team environment.
Ability to relate well with people from diverse groups.
Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with the UWC Mission.
