Who we’re looking for

The Data Systems Architect is responsible for designing and implementing data management solutions, ensuring the integrity and security of member data, and managing the CRM system to achieve optimal data storage, retrieval, and accessibility practices in support of fundraising, marketing, communications, and reporting across the organization. We are looking for candidates who want to help us champion a data-informed culture and play a key role in shaping the future of our data ecosystem by continually maintaining, improving, and enhancing CapRadio’s data practices and CRM platform use and developing scalable best practice solutions. The position routinely collaborates with the Donor Development, Marketing and Audience Insights teams.

Position responsibilities

• Improve and enhance CapRadio’s data collection and management practices to achieve optimal efficiency while retaining data quality and integrity.
• Automate, optimize, and document data pipelines between systems. Regularly evaluate processes and design and implement improvements and efficiencies when possible. 
• Perform scheduled reviews and updates to CapRadio records with the most recent data health services available, including NCOA address updates.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive data quality protocols to ensure member records are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
• Extract, transform, and load data from multiple approved sources to and from CRM and other CapRadio data systems and vendor systems.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues, perform system audits, and recommend improvements to database performance and data quality practices.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, integration processes, and system configurations.
• Ensure data collection and storage practices comply with California State University and other privacy regulations and payment compliance regulations.
• Protect data by developing security and restoration controls.

Skills and experience

• Two years or more of experience at a donor, member, or subscription-based organization is desirable. Knowledge of fundraising techniques as it relates to relational databases and donation management preferred.
• Practical experience with CRMs required, with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and database management systems and tools.
• Expertise with data cleaning, normalization, and migration techniques.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel including functions, pivot tables, and basic data visualization.
• Understanding of membership database structures. 
• Problem solver and lifelong learner.
• Detail oriented.
