Position Overview:
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the administration, design, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale computerized databases within a client/server environment. This role involves projecting long-term requirements, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability, and providing expert guidance and support on database systems. The DBA will design and support complex databases, perform quality controls, audits, and system integration, and work closely with other information systems managers to meet organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
-Plan, design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level databases in a client/server environment.
-Project long-term database requirements in coordination with other management teams.
-Conduct quality control, auditing, and performance tuning of databases to ensure accuracy, security, and optimal operation.
-Advise users on database access, security, and best practices for efficient data use.
-Design, implement, and maintain databases considering JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organizational structure, protection, security, and documentation.
-Develop and support database programming, including front-end/back-end development using SQL and other relevant languages.
-Maintain database dictionaries, monitor standards, design files, storage, and facilitate system integration through database design.
-Perform database security management, backups, recovery, and troubleshooting.
-Develop procedures and documentation for database management and support ongoing improvement initiatives.
-Conduct system audits and enforce database management standards and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
-Five (5) years of progressive experience with database query languages such as Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access.
-Three (3) years of hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
-Proven experience in at least two large projects responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing large-scale databases.
-Ability to work across various operating systems and additional programming languages.
-Must possess IT-I Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 5 (T5) clearance at the time of proposal submission.
-DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II.
