About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):
The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $61,022. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Role Overview:
The Database Analyst Senior supports Oracle databases to ensure data integrity, security, and stability. You will provide adequate computer resources and up-to-date software environment to our various customers. You will monitor and tune database performance to ensure that data is appropriately protected via database backup and related strategies. The position loads, or assists in loading of, database software, upgrade and patching. This position will assist with the evaluation and selection of infrastructure components and provide operational support for the database, ensuring data integrity, database availability, and performance. The Senior Database Analyst is needed to provide the degree of support that our agency customers currently expect and to meet their future needs.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Develop and advise on standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment.
Evaluate technology and products to determine the feasibility of adding to agency standards.
Develop work plans for assigned projects and manage the execution.
Design and implement logical and physical databases of a moderately to large complex nature.
Determine aggregation, partitioning, and indexing strategies for physical data.
Monitor and tune database performance, including SQL scripts, hints, execution plans, and materialized views.
Administer end-user access and security at the database level.
Ensure that data is appropriately protected via database backup and related strategies.

What You'll Need for Success:
The ideal candidate should minimally have:
The candidate should be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills, and work seamlessly in a team environment as well as independently.
Teamwork is a key element of the position, not just with the DBA team, but also with the developers and system owners when resolving issues as well as when planning and executing application deployments, bug fixes, and database or system enhancements.
Strong experience working with Oracle versions 11gR1/2, 12c, and 19c in a Windows and/or Linux environment.
Good observational and analytical skills.
Strong understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.
Extensive experience with Oracle Database version 19c.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Citrix, App-V, and Terminal Services.
Expert in administering various multi-terabyte, 24x7 uptime Oracle databases as a Systems/Infrastructure Database Administrator required.
Experience with features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Active Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and Golden Gate replication.
Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c.
Experience with performing and deploying database code objects to Test and Production.
Ability to manage database security, users, groups, roles, and permissions.
Experience with Oracle backup and recovery methodologies and their implementation.
Extensive knowledge of software and utilities related to supported DBMS such as Reorg, Backup, Recovery, Load, and Unload.
Extensive knowledge of capacity planning and disaster recovery.
Extensive knowledge of relational database and data warehouse design techniques and dimensional modeling processes.
Ability to analyze, communicate, and recommend future needs and direction for the agency’s data processing software/hardware environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
