POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a results-oriented database engineer to help optimize the performance of our application databases. You will be writing new support programs and scripts and troubleshooting database code. To ensure success as a database engineer, one should exhibit knowledge of best practices in database management and data security.

Potential candidate are expected to have:

• In-depth knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Extensive experience with database technologies and architecture.
• Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Responsible for managing the Microsoft SQL Server and Access database.
• Writing new support programs and scripts and troubleshooting database code
• Provide technical expertise in Microsoft Access, SQL and SQL server.
• Provide O&M support, design and implementation of system enhancements.

Requirements

NON-TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be willing to work a HYRBID Schedule (2-3 Days) in Reston, VA & client locations in DC, Atlanta, and/or Dallas as required.
• Ability to pass a 7-year background check.
• Active Federal Government Public Trust (IRS Preferred).
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Must be able to prioritize and self-start.
• Must be adaptable/flexible as priorities shift.
• Must be enthusiastic and have passion for learning and constant improvement.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years of experience and expertise in the following: 

           o MS Access - Form Design, Dynamic programming, Query Design

           o VBA - Reading/writing custom VBA, debugging and resolution skills.

           o SQL - Stored Procedure development, Dynamic SQL and Deployment Scripting.

           o SQL Server

           o MS Office 

           o Adobe Acrobat - Combining PDFs through VBA

           o MS SharePoint 

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Azure Development experience.
• Remote Azure Application setup and maintenance.
• Azure hosted SQL Server.
• Microsoft Azure Certifications are a plus.
