Job Description - Database Engineer- IT

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will be part of a team that designs, builds, and maintains top-notch databases to meet our business needs in a DevOps setting. You'll collaborate with architects to plan out the system's design and work with both business teams and front-end developers to make sure the solutions meet the business requirements. Your goal is to ensure a smooth and accurate transfer of data that allows our business to use our systems and data effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

Gathering database requirements by coordinating with stakeholders to understand the scope, data specifics, and desired outcomes.

Collaborate with business and Front End development teams to refine business requirements/solutions and deliver data model and backend code.

Mapping data to illustrate how information will move and change between the systems.

Extracting data, ensuring its clean and resolving any issues before it's moved.

Loading the cleaned data into the systems and validating its integration and format.

Testing the migrated data to confirm its accuracy and compliance with project goals.

Solve any data issues, such as errors or performance bottlenecks.

Documenting the entire process, including the strategies for mapping, extraction, and loading, as well as any issue resolution.

Optimizing database performance to ensure the systems handle the data efficiently, which could involve tweaking SQL queries or implementing new system optimizations.

We are seeking someone who is a collaborative teammate and a motivated self-starter, capable of taking initiative while also being open to receiving guidance from others. The ideal applicant will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, the person who joins this team should be able to work effectively with teams that are distributed globally. Being adaptable is a big plus.

You possess strong programming skills and demonstrate a passion for developing high-quality solutions. Your self-motivation shines through, as you enjoy contributing to the team, eagerly voicing your thoughts, sharing innovative ideas, and offering support to your colleagues. You are excited about experimenting with the latest technologies and keen to introduce the team to diverse perspectives.

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science or equivalent with 5+ years of industry experience

Knowledge of SDLC in Oracle ERP, Relational (Oracle), Elastic or Non-SQL Database

Supply Chain & Order Management experience

Experience with analytics and performance monitoring/improvement in on-prem and cloud environments

Proficiency with Unix or Linux shell scripting

Experience with SQL & PL/SQL and data transformation

Knowledge on JAVA, or Python, or Angular, or React JS

Preferred requirements:

Masters in computer science or equivalent with 3+ years of industry experience

Experience with Splunk, Bitbucket, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Jira and Confluence

Experience in using GITHUB, JIRA and other Continuous Integration & Continuous Development tools
