Hendall Inc., a mission-focused professional services firm based in Rockville, MD, is seeking an experienced Database Specialist Level III, Certified DBA to support the operations, maintenance, and enhancement of a mission-critical federal information system. This role is responsible for administering and maintaining enterprise Oracle databases across cloud and data center environments, with a focus on database performance, security, availability, backup and recovery, and data integrity.
DUTIES
Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize enterprise Oracle database environments
Monitor database availability, performance, capacity, storage utilization, and system health
Perform database performance tuning, including parameter configuration, indexing, query optimization, and storage optimization
Monitor and validate database backups and recoveries and support contingency and disaster recovery activities
Manage database users, roles, privileges, access controls, and audit trails
Maintain and support data models, database structures, metadata, and master data repositories
Develop and maintain SQL, PL/SQL, database scripts, and data upload or provisioning processes
Troubleshoot database and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement approved corrective actions
Support database upgrades, migrations, patches, releases, and cloud modernization activities
Support database integration with enterprise applications, workflows, APIs, and downstream systems
Maintain database administration documentation, backup verification logs, user administration records, and related technical artifacts
Support configuration management, change control, testing, and production release activities
Demonstrated experience with Oracle database administration, performance tuning, security, backup, and recovery
Experience with database design, data modeling, indexing, SQL, and PL/SQL
Experience managing database users, roles, permissions, and audit capabilities
Experience troubleshooting and supporting production database environments
Experience supporting database upgrades, migrations, and releases
Experience working in cloud and/or enterprise data center environments
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills
Ability to satisfy federal background investigation and badging requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Oracle Database 19c or Oracle RDS
Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic and Java-based enterprise applications
Experience with AWS or other cloud environments
Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical systems
Experience with GitLab, JIRA, ServiceNow, or comparable development and change-management tools
Experience supporting federal government information systems
Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000 per year
