Day Porter

Easterseals Academy is a therapeutic school that provides schooling for children with an autism spectrum disorder, emotional disability, developmental delay, or intellectual disability. School districts refer students to Easterseals Academy where the schools provide an alternative school placement for these students to help them to achieve independence. Easterseals Academy has three campuses, located in Chicago, Machesney Park, and Tinley Park.

This position is located at the Easterseals Academy - Machesney Park Campus at 8301 Mitchelle Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115.

• Empty, wipe clean, and refill all cigarette urns
• Empty and remove all trash from trash receptacles and damp clean and dry receptacles from the interior common areas, restrooms, and exterior entrances. Replace liners and disinfect as needed.
• Detail vacuum all accessible carpeted areas and entrance mats.
• Remove visible spots from carpeted areas.
• Clean and sanitize drinking fountains/water coolers using disinfectant.
• Clean and sanitize telephones.
• Dust all high and low vertical and horizontal surfaces.
• Dust and clean using disinfectant on all fixtures and office furniture including file cabinets, desks, credenzas, countertops, displaced units, window sills, wall ledges, picture frames, partition tops, etc.
• Mop hard surface floors using disinfectant, including stairwells.
• Sweep and police the exterior of all entrances, removing all gum and debris. Must be checked several times a day.
• Damp wipe staircase hand railings.
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and countertops with disinfectant.
• Polish all chrome, clean mirrors, and wipe dispensers with disinfectant.
• Restock expendables products such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, liners and other products.
• Take trash to designated areas for disposal, to be handled by the students.
• Wash and dry water splashes and soap marks from walls.
• Spot clean all glass windows and doors, door frames, and hardware at all entrances.
• Follow the recycling program and follow all facility safety guidelines.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Wash partitions.
• Disinfect doors and frames.
• Dust all vents, shelves, ducts, and light fixtures.
• Spot clean walls.
• Dust lockers and coat room cubbies.
• Pour water into floor drains.

• Wash walls.
• Dust and wipe air vents.

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED.

Experience Required:

• Experience working with special needs populations.

Vehicle/Transportation Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license.
• Auto insurance.
• Reliable vehicle.

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to multi-task in a high-stress environment.
• Ability to interact with diverse personalities.
