Daytime Back of House Team Member

Job Description - Daytime Back of House Team Member

Kitchen Team Member

Position: Kitchen Team Member

Location: Chick-fil-A Machesney Park

Employment type: Full-time and part-time opportunities available

Our purpose

The kitchen is the foundation of every guest experience. At Chick-fil-A Machesney Park, we prepare food safely, consistently, quickly, and with pride. We hold high standards because our guests and teammates depend on us. While the role of the front of house is to serve the guests, the kitchen exists to serve the front of house to make that possible.

This role is for people who can work with urgency, follow systems, stay focused through busy periods, and take responsibility for quality and cleanliness.

Chick-fil-A is known for their hospitality, speed and quality and we are looking for applicants who can help us live up to that expectation.

What you will do

Kitchen Team Members prepare, cook, assemble, package, and stage food that meets Chick-fil-A quality, safety, presentation, and speed standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, procedures, holding times, and food-safety standards
  • Bread, fry, assemble, package, and stage orders accurately for guests
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations, equipment, floors, storage areas, coolers, freezers, and dish areas
  • Complete prep, rotation, labeling, stocking, and closing responsibilities thoroughly
  • Work efficiently during high-volume meal periods without sacrificing food quality or safety
  • Communicate clearly with team members, shift leaders, and front-of-house staff
  • Keep product levels stocked and alert leaders before shortages become problems
  • Properly use, clean, and care for kitchen equipment
  • Participate in deep-cleaning, dishwashing, trash removal, and other essential restaurant-maintenance tasks
  • Arrive on time, in proper uniform, prepared to begin work at the scheduled start time
  • Accept coaching, follow direction, and contribute to a calm, respectful, team-oriented kitchen

What success looks like

You will thrive here if you:

  • Take pride in producing food correctly every time, even when it is busy
  • Work with pace and focus without becoming careless
  • Follow recipes, procedures, safety rules, and leadership direction consistently
  • Keep your station clean and organized throughout the shift—not only at closing
  • Notice what needs to be prepared, stocked, cleaned, or communicated and act on it
  • Handle feedback maturely and make adjustments quickly
  • Are dependable with attendance and scheduling
  • Treat every coworker with respect, regardless of role or experience level
  • Understand that washing dishes, taking out trash, cleaning equipment, and completing closing tasks are essential parts of the job

Basic qualifications

  • Must meet the minimum hiring age required for the position and scheduled duties
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with heat, noise, cold storage, cleaning chemicals, and changing priorities
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling within the essential functions of the role, with reasonable accommodation where required
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • Willingness to work a schedule that may include early mornings, afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, holidays, and peak business periods, based on restaurant needs
  • Kitchen or restaurant experience is helpful but not required; we will train team members who bring reliability, humility, work ethic, and a willingness to learn

Our kitchen standards

We expect every Kitchen Team Member to:

  • Protect food safety and guest safety without exception
  • Move with urgency while maintaining quality
  • Keep work areas clean, stocked, and organized
  • Respect the chain of command and follow procedures
  • Take ownership rather than blaming others
  • Communicate problems early and help solve them
  • Be dependable, coachable, and professional
  • Leave the restaurant and their station better than they found it

Please apply if…

  • You are looking for a professional, structured workplace with clear expectations and opportunity for growth
  • You take attendance, punctuality, cleanliness, teamwork, and guest service seriously
  • You can be coached and are willing to learn more than one position
  • You are comfortable being active and productive throughout your shift
  • You value respectful communication and want to contribute to a positive team culture
  • You are willing to complete every part of the job, including cleaning, stocking, prep, side work, and closing duties
