DCL-Shipping Expediter

Description

The position of Shipping Expeditor is a “Lead” position reporting directly to the Warehouse Management Team. The primary function is to oversee the process of daily furniture preparation for all outbound shipments to our customers and showrooms. The Expeditor will possess a strong attention to detail and be versatile in various areas of the Shipping department. This person will be the initial point of contact/ liaison between the shipping department and other areas of the company in regards to matters pertaining to product preparation and outbound shipments.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist with the coordination and execution of all functions related to the delivery process including picking, opening, inspecting, staging, scanning etc. 
• Review delivery manifest, checking for potential shipping exceptions/ discrepancies such as item compatibility, ensuring the correct orders and individual items are scheduled, address conflicts, researching back-ordered items and/ or inventory issues, etc.
• Act as a liaison between multiple individuals and departments to resolve exceptions/ discrepancies.
• Perform final quality check on product while staging items in proper delivery order and scanning items into final delivery process.
• Other duties as assigned by management
• Responsible for cleanliness and organization of personal work space and assist in maintaining clean and safe working environment at all times.
• Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and clean manner.
• Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and SDS standards.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Customer Focus, Dependability, Teamwork, Time Management, Equipment Maintenance, and Documentation Skills.
• Must be able to read and write English and possess good math skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. 
• Thorough knowledge of furniture and experience in the retail furniture industry preferred
• Includes working indoors in a warehouse environment which is subject to temperature changes not easily controlled by heating or air conditioning.
• Computer knowledge, including FACS, Microsoft Office (Word/ Excel), GMAIL preferred  

Very Heavy:  Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work.

Definitions:

Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time

Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time

Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time
