River Market Community Co-op is hiring a Deli Assistant Manager!

Experience-based pay ranging from $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Must be available to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.

The Deli Assistant Manager can anticipate spending a large portion of their day supervising and working alongside our Cooks and Deli Clerks to accomplish production assignments. You will report to the Deli Manager, assisting with managerial functions like scheduling, shift coverage, training, coaching, and shift facilitation.

Reports to: Deli Manager

Job Duties:

  • Execute daily production list as delegated by manager 
  • Communicate daily fixed and production assignments to department personnel in a prioritized fashion
  • Ensure department area (aisles, shelves, bins, prep, storage and backstock areas) are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards
  • Place orders as needed to ensure adequate supply for volume needs and usage
  • Receive deliveries following established procedures, or ensure proper receiving by other staff
  • Maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated, and faced sections, including promotional areas
  • Monitor department operations and recommend productivity improvements to Manager
  • Share management responsibilities as assigned
  • Coach, mentor, train, and develop staff to accomplish department goals
  • Identify and correct behavior and performance issues in progress. Advise manager of staff issues
  • Model a communicative and caring culture by consistent goal-setting, re-directing, mentoring, praising and disciplining
  • Schedule department staff. Fill in for all uncovered shifts
  • Participate in all department meetings and huddles
  • Provide a high level of customer service and communication with all customers and members
  • Consistently comply with all safety standards

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior kitchen experience (3 years)
  • Must be able to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Able to multi-task, perform repeated bending, standing and reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic including counting, addition and subtraction
  • Computer proficiency in: MS Office-Outlook, Excel, Word

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: Must be physically able to occasionally grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, and turn as needed.

Constant (67-100%): Walking, standing, talking, hearing, correctable vision including near acuity and depth perception

Frequent (34-66%): Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds floor to waist

Occasional (1-33%): Working in refrigeration, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds floor to waist, lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance floor to waist, lifting and reaching waist to shoulder, lifting and reaching above the shoulder

Approximately 15% of the time: Administrative Duties & Sitting
