Job Description - Deli Prep Cook

This full-time position is for someone who enjoys cooking and would like to earn money in a team position that offers benefits and a stable schedule during daytime hours.



The tentative schedule for this position would be Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, with occasional modifications for Holidays and other busy periods.

We combine a USDA-inspected sausage kitchen and custom processing facility with a gourmet retail store. Job summary


Deli prep cooks are responsible for assisting in the production of deli salads, deli entrées, and prepared food items at Lake Geneva Country Meats.



Essential functions



  • Follow recipes to produce deli salads, deli entrées, and prepared food items.

  • Stock the LGCM deli case according to a set plan.

  • Clean utensils, dishes, workspace, and deli as needed.

  • Other duties as necessary.

  • Basic kitchen skills.

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

  • Team-oriented working style.


Work environment


This position works in a small kitchen with food service-style appliances and implements.



Physical requirements


This position must be able to:



  • Fluently communicate verbally and in writing in the English language.

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Safely use sharp objects and work near open flame.

  • Stand for an 8 hour shift: 2 - fifteen minute rest breaks and 1 - thirty minute meal break are provided during a shift.

  • Operate in a variety of temperature environments from a hot kitchen to coolers kept in the 40º range, to freezers that are kept in the 0º range.


Education and experience



  • No professional experience is necessary, but a knowledge of basic cooking techniques and terminology is required.
