DENTAL ASSISTANT

SITE OF SERVICE:

Fort Bliss Detention Center

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

·        Education: Completion of a Dental Assistant Program

·        Certification: Possess certification as a Radiographer or show evidence of specific training, experience, and competence in the administration of radiological exams/imaging

·        Additional Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

·        Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of experience

·        U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen

·        English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.

·        Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

Specific Tasks:

·        Perform the following functions, within the scope of accepted dental assistant practices. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps personnel or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments.

·        Assist dentist in many aspects of direct patient care

·        Demonstrates proper infection control procedures in setting up and cleaning equipment and instruments.

·        Perform radiological exams/imaging ensuring that images are characterized by diagnostic quality, accurately oriented, and properly exposed in a timely manner

·        Provides accurate and understandable instructions to patients reporting any problems to the dentist.

·        Assists dentist in charging findings and treatment plans in patient records.

HOURS:

Shifts will be scheduled for 8 hour shifts

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
