Dental Assistant

Description

We are looking to grow our team, and looking for an experienced, patient centered, enthusiastic dental assistant to serve our patients and assist our doctors in an array of procedures. We need a team player who is dedicated to taking care of the needs of our patients.

The Dental Assistant will be primarily responsible for the chair-side and laboratory assisting of the Dentist and Dental Hygienist and to perform clerical functions as needed within the dental unit.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Patient and room preparation for treatment:
• Don (Put on proper PPE)
• Greet patients and escort them to the treatment room.
• Verify patient identifiers and document medical history.
• Secure signed patient consent forms as needed.
• Collecting and recording medical and dental histories on patients’ vital signs.
• Chair-Side Assisting:
• Retraction and suction.
• Recording/charting examination and treatment information as relayed by the dentist.
• Set out and organize necessary dental instruments and materials for indicated procedures.
• Prepare dental materials for procedures including cement, bases, restorative materials, and irrigation.
• Release Patients from Treatment:
• Rinse oral cavity and remove all debris.
• Provide patients with instructions from the dentist for all types of post treatment care, including instructions for post-surgery patients.
• DOFF (Proper removal of PPE)
• Release patients from the treatment room and escort them to the PSR.
• Performs the Infection Control Procedures of the Dental Unit to include but not limited to:
• Disinfecting the operatory after each patient.
• Cleaning, lubricating and sterilizing hand pieces.
• Sterilizing and safely storing all dental instruments and materials. Also maintain sterilization logs.
• Laboratory Assisting.
• Use of digital X-ray system to capture appropriate images.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Graduate of a Dental Assistant program
• Computer literate with at least two years of experience
• Bilingual in Spanish or Creole is a plus
