Job Description - Dentist - Roanoke, VA

A busy, long-standing dental practice located in Roanoke, VA is seeking a full-time general dentist. This entirely PPO/FFS practice has 13 ops and is fully digital including iTero, an influx of 60 new patients a month, 5 full-time dental hygienists and most procedures are kept in house.   • How many operatories do you have?13

  • What’s the first week for a new doctor look like in terms of on-boarding / responsibilities? Any training or official onboarding program?Week #1 = orientation Day 1, followed by 3-4 days of acclimation to PMS, staff, culture and office flow. Weeks following is a titration up in schedule starting slow to go fast.
  • How many hygienists are on the team? Are you using Assisted Hygiene? 5 RDH with 1 of those 5 performing AH
  • What are the days and hours of a typical doctor schedule? How many assistants do they get, and how many columns are they in?Monday-Thursday 8-5, Friday 8-3 pm no weekends. The Dr is able to work 5 days or 4 days a week
  • Do you offer a path to ownership / partnership and if so, what does that path look like?Yes, to both after completing 1 year and meeting specific requirements
  • How do you compensate your doctors? Are there production incentives? What's the average take home annually for your doctors? (For example, are you giving them a daily rate for a period of time, and if so, what's the range for that? Same with percentage.Day rate between 3-5 months combined with 30% collections whichever is greater in that time period. After that, straight 30% collections with 30% labs during full agreement term.
  • If your compensation is based on collections, what is your last 6 month average collection rate?92% from Oct 2024 through March 2025 having collected 1M in that timeframe
  • Do you hire as employees or independent contractors?W2
  • Do you have an employment contract, and if so, is it annual? What is your non-compete? What is your notice period? Agreement set only with standard terms and conditions and evergreen. Aim for 3 yr setup, 10 miles, 1 yr with 90-day notice period
  • Why is this position open? If this is a replacement, what was the average monthly production of the doctor being replaced?One of the founders is retiring
  • What benefits do you offer, if any? (paid malpractice? Paid time off? Medical, dental, vision? 401K? CE reimbursement? Holidays? )MP paid by employer, Standard medical, vision, STD, LTD, 3 weeks' time away (unpaid given comp is collections), CE offered with annual renewal.

  • What are your daily / monthly production expectations, if any?Daily is at or above $4,000 daily production if working 16 days per month = at or close to 65K per month

  • Do you charge lab fees to your doctors?30%
  • What’s the interview process like? (normally it’s an initial call, then a practice visit, then possibly a working interview, then decision…just as an example)1. Intro call (5-20 mins) 2. Establish virtual (or in person) interview 3. Discuss agreement terms and conditions and arrive to 80% acceptance BEFORE we pay for travel (plane, hotel, car) 3. If virtual interview, then proceed with office tour and observation for up to 2-3 hours 4. Close the candidate with agreement terms
  • Do you huddle in the morning, and if so, who leads and who is in attendance?Yes, PM leads this -
  • How many total doctors do you have in the practice? Will there be mentorship at all? What is the average monthly production of current docs in the practice?2, with some mentorship
  • How would you describe the culture of your practice? What type of personality do you believe would be the best fit for your culture?The office has endured change with almost entirely new staff. Bc of the financial climate, those that left, left bc of an opportunity to make significantly more money per hour or offered better benefits (with other competing DSOs) . This office will thrive with a Dr that is engaging, wants to stay and will pick up the torch to offer family dentistry and provide different services the practice hadn't offered previously (i.e., implants) .
