The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. The hiring range for this position is $74,276/year - $82,000/year, based on experience. This is an at-will position.

This is primarily an in-person role. In this position, you can expect to work on-site at the City and County of Denver Building (1437 Bannock Street) in downtown Denver and 4685 Peoria Street. This position may work off-site 1-2 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
Please note this position requires regular work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
The office of Councilmember Paul Kashmann, District 6, is seeking a Senior Council Aide with prior experience working for an elected official, government agency or other public-facing organization. Your responsibilities will include policy, community engagement, communications, and administrative work across Council District 6.

We are looking for a highly skilled individual to advise on legislative and policy processes, community engagement, and communications. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to maintain a high level of trust with the Councilmember. They will also be able to implement the Councilmember's priorities with decisive and precise skill.
This is an at-will position. Please note this position requires regular work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
Senior Council Aide duties can include, but are not limited to:
Advise on all policy items, communicating to all members of the team
Develop, track, and help implement office policy priorities
Serve as the lead with departments and stakeholders on key policy priorities as needed
Review letters, reports, surveys, summaries, and other policy materials
Advise on all community engagement and constituent items, communicating to all members of the team
Support key community engagement initiatives from the office
Track office outreach and engagement efforts to ensure strong community ties
Assist in casework as a liaison between Councilmember and constituents
Develop communication plans and implement strategies
Advise on communications items, communicating to all members of the team.
Help maintain the brand and social image
Review newsletters, social media, mail, press relations, and other communications efforts
Advise on all administrative items, communicating to all members of the team
Review letters, memos, reports, and other office materials
Liaison with City departments, including attending briefings on city projects

Work experience at the federal, state, or local government level; current or previous connection to Denver
Experience working with diverse populations along with under-represented/underserved communities and experience navigating government systems
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: Five (5) years of public sector experience or similar professional experience that includes office management, constituent services, community outreach, public relations, or communications which must include one year as a city council aide, legislative aide, or an equivalent position
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
