Job Description - Department Manager - Sporting Goods/Firearms - Grand Forks, ND

We have career opportunity as a Department Manager - Sporting Goods/Firearms. The Department Manager is responsible for merchandising and sales within his or her assigned department. Department Managers are responsible to provide the highest level of customer service and report to the Store Manager. This position will require ability to work days, nights, and every other weekend. Extensive knowledge and understanding of sporting goods, including firearms and FFL regulations involved with firearms sales is required.


Pay range: $18.00-$21.00 depending on experience


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Direct and coordinate the merchandising of assigned products.

  2. Set priorities for distribution of new merchandise within the assigned department.

  3. Ensure adequate inventory in all areas of assigned department.

  4. Assist customers with purchases.

  5. Work closely with Retail Buyer(s) to ensure awareness of assigned department product needs and other product information.

  6. Assist with the training and direction provided to new department team members.

  7. Ensure that safety is practiced when handling merchandise by employees and customers.

  8. Accurately document all acquisitions and dispositions of firearms at the retail location

  9. Maintain the bound book and any electronic versions of the A&D Log

  10. Properly complete all documentation associated with FFL transfers including shipping and receiving of firearms

  11. Perform regular firearm inventories

  12. Maintain records in an audit ready state

  13. Order necessary supplies such as pamphlets, signage, forms, locks, etc.

  14. Daily paperwork review and compliance

  15. Special ordering of firearms for customer requests

  16. Handles all firearm returns for repairs

  17. Assist with the training of local sporting goods employees

  18. Be the store resource on compliance and firearms procedures

  19. Any and all other duties as assigned by manager

  20. Knowledge of sporting goods, especially firearms and FFL requirements associated with the sale of firearms is strongly preferred.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 



  1. Ability to work an irregular work schedule

  2. Excellent customer service skills required

  3. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds

  4. Long periods of standing

  5. Frequent bending and twisting


 EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE



  1. High School Diploma preferred

  2. Customer Service training and or experience preferred.
