While the posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this position, the District reserves the right to consider compensation outside the range based on the candidate's qualifications, credentials, leadership experience, market factors, and organizational needs, subject to applicable approvals.

Job Scope


Oversee operations of multiple departments and/or campuses across the entire district. Develops long-term strategic planning for multiple departments or campuses and oversees the implementation of these plans. Reports to the Top Executive district level for all aspects of department or campus performance.


 


Position Summary 


Oversee academic, instructional, and school leadership programs and personnel at the district level. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instruction.


 


Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities


1.     Develop and implement C&I programs and practices that support enhanced instructional services, increased access to rigorous and challenging courses, improved ACT and SAT scores and K-12 student achievement


2.     Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate curriculum and instructional support programs for elementary and secondary education and ensure that programs are efficiently and effectively administered


3.     Ensure the integration of the District’s curriculum and instructional objectives at the campus level


4.     Ensure that campus improvement plans are aligned with campus needs and District goals


5.     Determine instructional needs and identify instructional programs to address those needs


6.     Facilitate communication and collaboration among assigned department personnel, district personnel and campus administrators to enhance service delivery, program development and customer satisfaction


7.     Provide leadership and direction to the Assistant Superintendents to ensure all schools achieve high academic performance


8.     Analyze critical needs in assigned areas and work collaboratively to design, implement, refine, and evaluate assigned programs for continuous improvement


9.     Advise and provide information to the Superintendent’s staff, Board of Trustees, district administrators and others as necessary


10.   Advise the Superintendent on matters regarding assigned functions/departments


11.   Supervise the Assistant Superintendents of High School, Middle School and Elementary School, the Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction and other personnel in assigned departments


12.   Oversee the evaluation of campus administration with the assistance of the Assistant Superintendents


13.   Approve the recruitment, hiring and placement of assigned staff


14.   Build a common vision for school improvement/student achievement with staff. Direct planning activities and put programs in place with staff to ensure attainment of district’s mission


15.   Identify, analyze, and apply research and data findings to promote school improvement


16.   Develop, maintain, and use information systems and records necessary to show progress on performance objectives that address Academic Excellence Indicators, campus improvement plans and district long-range plans


17.   Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs


18.   Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.


 


Minimum Requirements


·       Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years equivalent experience


·       3+ years professional related experience


·       Progressive leadership experience to include: 


  -       Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, and Managing employees or teams.


  -       Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.


·       Valid Mid-Management, Administrator, or Principal Certification


·       Work collaboratively across multiple departments


·       Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.  Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee


 


Preferred Requirements 


·       Master’s degree from an accredited college or university


·       10+ years of professional related experience.


·       8+ years of progressive leadership experience to include: 


  -       Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, and Managing employees or teams.


  -       Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.


·       3+ years in a Central Office position


·       Strong curriculum, curriculum alignment, curriculum standards and assessment and program management


 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 


·       Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction


·       Demonstrated instructional leadership


·       Ability to evaluate and modify instructional program and teacher effectiveness based on data analysis and interpretation


·       Ability to problem solve, think critically, and manage conflicts


·       Ability to manage budget and personnel


·       Ability to implement policies and procedures


·       Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills


 


Working Conditions 


Work Environment: 


·       Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and other equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position. 


·       Frequent exposure to:  temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise.  Occasional exposure to:  biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc. 


 


Physical Demands/Requirements: 


·       Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.


 


Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports


·       Supervise and evaluate performance of Assistant Superintendents and assigned Curriculum & Instruction staff including administrators and clerks.
