POSITION DETAILS
The Design Consultant works closely and diligently with our clients,selling cabinets, flooring and granite optionsindividually tailored to their specific vision. This position provides expertise on style, design, quality, and price, while creating an exceptional experience for all clients while in store. The Design Consultant educates clients on the appearance and functionality of all interior finish products, while professionally selling upgrades as they relate to the consultation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs. 2) Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires. 3) Maintain knowledge of current products 4) Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers 5) Calculate sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment. 6) Maintain records related to sales. 7) Prepare sales slips or sales contracts. 8) Place special orders or call other stores to find desired items 9) Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. 10) Ticket, arrange and display merchandise to promote sales 11) Sell or arrange for delivery, insurance, financing, or service contracts for product. 12) Estimate cost of repair or alteration of merchandise. 13) Demonstrate use or operation of product. 14) Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations. 15) Clean shelves, counters, and tables. 16) Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Minimum 2 years experience in sales of flooring, cabinetry, and/or granite 3. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication 4. Skilled negotiator 5. Excellent organizational, accuracy and attention to detail skills. 6. Must maintain high standards of confidentiality.
