At Solid Light, we create immersive environments that help museums, cultural institutions, and brands tell meaningful stories. Every exhibit we design begins as an idea—but it becomes reality through the precision, creativity, and technical expertise of people who know how to translate concepts into something that can be built.
We're looking for a Design Detailer who enjoys solving technical challenges, thinking through how things come together, and collaborating with designers and fabricators to ensure every detail supports the creative vision. If you thrive at the intersection of design and construction and enjoy transforming concepts into build-ready documentation, we'd love to meet you.
As a member of the Fabrication Team, you'll work closely with designers and fabrication professionals to bridge the gap between design intent and execution, helping ensure our projects are both beautiful and buildable.
What You'll Do
Develop detailed construction documentation from 3D design models.
Isolate exhibit components and verify dimensions, fit, and constructability.
Produce accurate fabrication drawings with clear dimensions, material specifications, hardware callouts, and finish information.
Ensure designs meet ADA requirements, fabrication best practices, and project requirements.
Collaborate with designers, project teams, and fabricators throughout the design process to resolve technical challenges.
Participate in design reviews and planning meetings to maintain alignment between creative vision and fabrication execution.
Research materials and products that support design intent while considering budget and constructability.
Proactively identify missing information and coordinate with team members to ensure complete, accurate documentation.
What We're Looking For
You may be a great fit if you:
Enjoy turning creative concepts into detailed technical documentation.
Think analytically while maintaining an eye for design.
Are highly organized and naturally attentive to detail.
Communicate well across creative and technical teams.
Take ownership of your work and proactively solve problems before they become obstacles.
Appreciate both craftsmanship and collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Strong proficiency in RHINO, AutoCAD, and other 3D modeling software.
Experience producing construction or fabrication drawings.
Understanding of materials, hardware, finishes, and construction methods.
Familiarity with ADA requirements and general building practices.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional quality and accuracy.
