Position Description

Position Title: Design Engineer (Civil Engineering Department)

Reports To: Project Manager and/or Senior Project Engineer

Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $31.00 to $34.00 hourly

Job Type: Full-time

Supervises: N/A

Location: Newport Beach, CA

The Design engineer is responsible for creating and developing innovative engineering designs and solutions. The Design Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer to ensure designs meet client requirements and industry standards. 

Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering design, calculations, and  preparation of plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state  and local agency requirements and general engineering design standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain communication, responsiveness and effective working relationships with design team,      clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide Construction administration and support, including but not limited to resolving field issues, reviewing material      submittals, and addressing contractor RFIs.
• Meet, coordinate and provide processing with various utility companies, review agencies and municipalities to expedite project      approvals and permitting.
• Create and develop detailed engineering designs using CAD and Civil-3D software and other design tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
• Perform calculations, simulations, and tests to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Generate and review technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client presentations to communicate design concepts and progress.
• Perform other duties as required

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited college or university; required
• 0-2 years of experience in the same or similar role preferred but not required
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; preferred 
• City/County of Los Angeles and urban infill development experience; preferred but not required
• Knowledge of general engineering principals and general engineering design
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Maintain a valid drivers license

Lifting Requirements:

• Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 10 pounds
