Job Description - Design Professional III/Job Captain - Interior Design

19six is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Interiors Job Captain, to work in the various markets in our Roseville office (civic, education, healthcare, housing, hospitality). Interior Design Job Captains are responsible for the production of a project's construction documents. They  should be able to produce, delegate, coordinate, and assemble an entire set of project documents as directed by a Project Manager on large and complex projects. They will work with the Project Manager to ensure project scope is completely documented and coordinated with consultants, is on schedule and within available budget. They could be a project lead on smaller, less complex projects. 



PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • With the assistance of Senior Designer/Market Sector Leader, develop work plans for projects of moderate complexity, including schedule, internal budget and staffing

  • Delegation of production work to Design Professionals on projects of moderate complexity, resolving spatial and aesthetic issues

  • Interface with clients, consultants and staff throughout project

  • Understand and work with furniture systems and freestanding furniture in order to specify product

  • Forecast potential issues related to clients, staff, budget, schedule; then develop and implement strategies with the assistance of Senior Designer/Market Sector Leader

  • Lead field-verification of existing building conditions

  • Understand and resolve code compliance issues with the assistance of senior staff

  • Conduct project research and coordinates specifications

  • Participate as a member of a programming team to gather and implement information throughout the project

  • On projects of moderate complexity, is responsible for review of budgets and billings with accounting staff, recognizing potential issues and working with Associate Principal or Principal to resolve issues

  • Work with Market Sector Leader to develop proposals and scope change strategies

  • Interface with architectural staff in conveying design intent and code compliance

  • On projects of moderate complexity, is responsible for the coordination of drawings and specifications, including consultant coordination, and for construction administration of the project

  • Responsible for creation and development of technical drawings and the coordination with senior staff for QA review

  • Develop and demonstrate basic understanding of contractual and liability law

  • Understanding and implementation of code compliance, including CBC & ADA


DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design is required

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience designing/drafting interior architecture/design projects

  • CID certification and/or LEED certification not required, but are a plus

  • Experience with DSA and/or OSHPD/HCAI process preferred but not required

  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly motivated, positive and ability to problem solve

  • Ability to delegate tasks and still maintain responsibility for document set
