Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.


Summary


As a Designer Associate at Oncor, you’ll develop designs and prepare estimates to ensure quality construction of electric distribution system additions, expansions, and modifications in accordance with all Company policies and accepted standards to meet the needs of new and existing customers within budgetary guidelines. This role will also provide project management services for these projects from inception through completion. Training for this role and placement will be within this service market territory.


This role will be fully on-site based out of our Benbrook Service Center


Key Responsibilities



  • Excellent communication skills with customers and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met.

  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.

  • Prepare designs and estimates for projects under direct supervision to provide electric facilities to meet customer needs. Designs must ensure reliable, economical, safe, and timely expansion of the Oncor electric distribution facilities.

  • Follow projects through the construction process to ensure timely completion and accurate posting of Distribution Information System (DIS) data and financial records.

  • Incorporate safety as an aspect in the design and operation of facilities to ensure personnel and public safety.

  • Effectively manage assigned projects while maintaining work product reliability and volume.

  • Actively participate in personal developmental planning and training to expand knowledge and opportunities.

  • Must be able and available to assist in storm restoration efforts.

Education & Experience



  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

  • 2 or more years of experience with organizational and program/project management skills is required.


Design Dimensions (worked on to include, but not limited to)



  • Installation, replacement, and removal of services.

  • Single lot residential customers.

  • Small commercial and industrial customers.

  • Reactive system maintenance.

  • Minor relocations and street light projects.


Measure of Success 



  • Promotes and encourages safety awareness and provides positive contributions to the safety program.

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively lead and direct the work of others.

  • Work effectively with management and other groups to achieve acceptable customer satisfaction survey results.

  • Appropriately represents the company and management in a positive manner.

  • Ensures effective WR audit results are achieved.

  • Ability to manage projects from inception to completion when working independently and with other work groups.

  • Consistently meeting customer service expectations.

  • Effective and timely completion of Employment Development plans.

  • Produces quality work estimates.

  • Produces an acceptable quantity of work estimates.

  • Utility Designer Performance Dashboard.

  • Accurately completes work assignments and other paperwork in acceptable time frames.
