We are seeking a Designer / Drafter to support N3B in a direct role! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Support the development and upkeep of maintenance, waste processing, and facilities drawings at N3B.
Ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner.
Maintain required safety, security and operational training.
Assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Performing site checks.
Performing drawing checks
Develop and update engineering drawings and/or 3D models in support of N3B Operations
Manage drawing documents in a manner that ensures proper revision control
Performing work in accordance with the Conduct of Engineering (CoE) and applicable Federal, State, and applicable codes and standards
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Associate's Degree in a related discipline and 3-4 years of relevant experience additional, 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
Experience with both 2D and 3D computer aided design software programs such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor is required.
Proficient in MS Office to include MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of modeling and drawing drafting principals, application of standards, symbols, notes, GD&T on drawings and models to capture design intent.
Understanding of engineering, design, and drafting concepts related to a mechanical, electrical, civil, etc. disciplines.
Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, AWS and related industry standards for addressing fit, form and function.
Desired Skills
Familiarity with DOE Nuclear Facilities is preferred.
About the Site
N3B manages the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy Environmental Management’s Los Alamos Field Office, which is responsible for cleaning up contamination that resulted from LANL operations before 1999 and packaging and shipping radioactive and hazardous waste off-site for permanent disposal (n3b-la.com).
