Job Description - Desktop Support Technician

The Desktop Support Technician will support Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) onsite in Austin, Texas. The role serves as a key resource on a technical services team, providing advanced desktop and end -user support across hardware, software, and productivity platforms. The technician will troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues, provide white -glove support to executive -level users, and support video tele -conferencing solutions. This individual will also serve as a local leader and mentor to junior technicians, contributing to process creation and project leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computers (PC) and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware failures.
  • Identify network problems as they relate to personal desktop and laptop computers.
  • Provide technical support to end users across the organization.
  • Deliver white -glove, executive -level technical support.
  • Support video tele -conferencing solutions such as Cisco Webex.
  • Provide training to end users on hardware, software, and related systems.
  • Create and lead process improvement efforts and project initiatives.
  • Serve as a local leader and mentor to junior Technicians.
  • Apply and stay current on new technologies relevant to desktop support.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications
  • 5 years of experience providing end -user support; supporting personal computer hardware and routine software installation; troubleshooting IT hardware and peripherals in an enterprise environment; and supporting Microsoft Productivity tools such as Office 365 and MS Teams.
  • 4 years of experience providing "white -glove" executive -level support and supporting video tele -conferencing solutions such as Cisco Webex.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience creating technical knowledge articles.
  • 5 years of experience working in a multi -vendor support environment.
  • 4 years of experience utilizing ServiceNow in a support environment.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must currently reside within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location.
  • 1,790 hours over a 9 -10 month contract period, with opportunity for renewal.
  • Criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal and State law.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon a successful background check.
Work Location and Schedule:
Location: 125 E. 11th Street, Austin, TX 78701
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays.
Work Arrangement: Onsite.
