We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Developer Assistant to join our innovative team at Gallery Department. The Developer Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Developer and Junior Developer in the design and development process of our unique fashion pieces. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about fashion and streetwear culture to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and creative environment.
Developer Assistant
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist the Developer and Junior Developer in translating designs and concepts into tangible products.
Support in the creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and initial cost estimates.
Maintain and update the development Work-In-Progress (WIP) and sample status.
Manage sample development stages, including sourcing, fabric selection, strike-offs, lab dips, and hand-offs.
Coordinate with design and production teams to ensure timely completion of projects.
Help establish relationships with suppliers and manufacturers for material sourcing, adhering to sustainability guidelines.
Assist in working within budget constraints to optimize production costs without compromising quality.
Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to support product and process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Responsible for following standard operating procedures for all development operations and utilizing development tools including but not limited to ERP and PLM.
Provide Developer team assistance with invoicing, purchase orders, shipments and other operational tasks.
Maintain detailed records of the development process.
Stay true to brand values by being conscientious of waste.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Some experience or coursework in the fashion industry, preferably with luxury or streetwear brands.
Basic knowledge of the cut/sew process, screen-printing, and manufacturing processes.
Interest in sustainability and ethical sourcing practices is a plus.
Good project management and organizational skills.
Creative mindset with a passion for fashion and streetwear culture.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools for product development (PLM experience preferred).
Ability to act with integrity and professionalism.
Must have a driver's license and reliable transportation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Development, or a related field, or relevant coursework or work experience.
2-3 years of work experience in the fashion industry.
Physical Requirements:
Comfortable standing for long periods, physically mobile; can lift up to 25 pounds.
