Job Description - Development Associate

About Cultivate Initiatives:


We are a group of people who work alongside those on the margins to empower individuals and communities through an inclusive range of initiatives and support. We build communities from the inside out through workforce development, housing and homemaking, and supportive sheltering. 



Compensation/Benefits:



  • $57,000-63,000 annually depending on experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • None



Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Represents Cultivate Initiatives in person and virtually to various stakeholders and community partners

  • Manages the planning, organizing, and execution of all events for the purpose of fundraising or community engagement

  • Responsible for tabling opportunities and presentations to potential partners and funding sources

  • Attends networking events to enhance Cultivate Initiatives’ outreach and capacity, flexing hours if needed

  • Leads media team with production of communication materials for social media, newsletters, and advocacy materials

  • Supports the planning, organization, and implementation of fundraising campaigns

  • Manages the volunteer program which includes coordinating volunteer opportunities in partnership with program staff, engaging volunteers, maintaining records of volunteer hours, onboarding volunteers, and continuing volunteer relationships

  • Assists with grant process including identifying and researching potential grant opportunities, communication with grantors, and grant reporting

  • Manages backend systems for tracking funding status, community relationships, and donor engagement

  • Responsible for timely donor engagement through cards, phone calls, emails, and other means

  • Shares ideas and input regarding the creation and implementation of organization development plan

  • Supports in the creation and distribution of a podcast

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development & Relationships.



Qualifications:



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable and practiced with public speaking 



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous grant writing experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4 or more years in an administrative role, with heavy writing experience.)

  • Experience using Canva

  • Experience using Squarespace



Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:



  • Work is performed indoors with occasional film/photographic work outdoors. 

  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels, from quiet offices to louder, industrial settings.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

  • Work requires the ability to perform repetitive movements of the wrist, hands, or fingers due to continuous use of computer keyboards and other office equipment.

  • Work requires the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle

  • Being physically present in the CI offices from 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption

  • Must be able to provide proof of Driver’s License
