Development Associate Position

Summary

NewYork-Presbyterian seeks a Development Associate (DA) based at our corporate offices. Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Foundations team, this position will support the Director and the team to help secure funding for capital projects, state-of-the-art technology, and other funding priorities and initiatives related to NewYork-Presbyterian’s mission and vision. Development Associates serve as critical support to our fundraising teams ensuring donor engagement, and related projects are well coordinated and managed. The DA ensures a high level of data hygiene is upheld in NYP’s donor database, conduct prospect research, fundraising/departmental policies and procedures are utilized and followed, and a variety of resources, templates, and materials that are core to development operations and efforts are available and leveraged.

To be successful, this individual will need to be exceptionally organized, detail orientated and manage up and across and work collaboratively with Office of Development staff as well as other important internal and external constituencies. Additionally, DAs must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and complex healthcare system.

Core Responsibilities

• Supports the Corporate and Foundations team in coordinating projects and initiatives, managing deadlines and action items, collaborating within and across teams and departments, including the administrative support team
• Conduct Prospect Research to uncover potential Corporation and Foundation prospects aligned to NYP’s campaign priorities
• Maintains the donor database to ensure a high level of departmental data hygiene and optimization of the donor database, especially as it relates to portfolio and pipeline management. This includes updating donor contact information, status and actions/activities, uploading proposals and correspondence, entering contact reports and/or pertinent notes, and other items as necessary and appropriate
• Runs regular reports from the database to support fundraising and donor pipeline maintenance and development. Some of these reports include but are not limited to: gift officer portfolios, upcoming and outstanding tasks with donors and prospects, projected solicitation dates 
• Drafts materials in support of donor relationship management best practices such as personalized proposals, progress reports, donor briefings, presentations, and acknowledgement letters and helps to ensure proper and timely updates about projects/programs funded by donors
• Supports important meetings with key internal and external constituencies by assisting with scheduling, creating agendas and support materials, taking and distributing meeting notes, meeting follow up, and other duties as necessary or appropriate
• Maintains and encourages adoption of all departmental policies and procedures.
• Serves as a resource for templates, reference materials, and samples for proposals, briefing documents, acknowledgements, presentations, progress reports, etc. and regularly curates and updates these resources..

Additional Responsibilities

• Helps develop and implement comprehensive strategies for stewardship and cultivation of campaign donors during gift cycle
• Communicates with donors, the offices of donors, administrators, physicians and fundraising volunteers to provide information and follow up
• Serves as support staff for special events including fundraising gatherings
• Maintains knowledge of all capital campaign priorities at NYP and corelating phases of campaign activity
• Maintains thorough and up-to-date knowledge of NYP and Office of Development specific policies and procedures
• Manages a small portfolio of lower-level dollar donors

This is a full time position, working 4 days a week mostly out of our Corporate Office in mid-town Manhattan; reporting to NewYork-Presbyterian hospitals as projects require. Ability for 1 day remote a week.

Preferred Criteria

• Experience in a hospital, non-profit and/ or medical setting
• Experience working with fundraising volunteers and committees
• Fundraising, public relations, and/or event planning experience
• Experience working with a donor database/CRM platform

Required Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 1-3 years of relevant experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to navigate within a fast-paced, highly complex organization emphasizing teamwork, respect, adaptability, and excellence

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
