Orangewood Christian School is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Development Coordinator to play a key role in advancing the school's fundraising, donor relations, and alumni engagement initiatives. While this position reports to the Director of Development, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can operate independently, take ownership of key initiatives, and drive fundraising efforts with minimal supervision when needed.

This role requires a blend of administrative support and leadership skills, ensuring the successful execution of fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, event coordination, and alumni engagement. The Development Coordinator must possess strong organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and a heart for serving in a Christian school environment.

The Development Coordinator is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God.  The Development Coordinator is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.

Essential Function: 

Fundraising Campaign Management:

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and tracking of fundraising campaigns and appeals, ensuring seamless implementation and analyzing results.
  • Take initiative in donor stewardship efforts, including creating impact reports, donor recognition strategies, and success stories.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications to ensure alignment and consistency of fundraising messaging.

Donor Communication and Engagement:

  • Develop and implement donor communication strategies, including newsletters, email campaigns, and social media outreach.
  • Manage donor acknowledgment processes, including tracking gifts, sending thank-you communications, and ensuring effective stewardship.
  • Conduct donor research and prospecting to identify and cultivate new funding opportunities.

Alumni Relations and Engagement:

  • Lead the development and execution of alumni engagement initiatives, including reunions, networking events, and mentorship programs.
  • Manage alumni communication through newsletters, social media, and personalized outreach to maintain a strong alumni network.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of alumni participation in school events, including Homecoming, career days, and giving initiatives.

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Independently coordinate and execute fundraising and donor cultivation events, ensuring efficient planning and seamless logistics.
  • Manage all aspects of event planning, including venue selection, vendor coordination, RSVP tracking, and on-site execution.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and event committees to enhance donor engagement and community participation.

Data Management and Performance Tracking:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and alumni records in the fundraising database, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Generate reports to track fundraising performance, donor retention, and alumni engagement trends.
  • Assist in preparing materials for board meetings, donor presentations, and strategic discussions.

Departmental Operations and Leadership Support:

  • Operate independently in the absence of the Director of Development, ensuring smooth departmental operations and ongoing donor engagement.
  • Manage administrative tasks, donor correspondence, and engagement strategies with minimal oversight.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, representing the Development Department professionally and strategically.

Other duties, as assigned.

Required Personal Qualities:

2. Believe the Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. 

3. Faithfully attend and actively support a local church that adheres to the principles listed in the OCS Statement of Faith.

4. Be in agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith. 

5. Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions both in and out of school to students, parents and fellow employees. Agree with and adhere to the OCS Lifestyle Statement. 

6. Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing and unity in the body of Christ.

7. Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability and personal leadership qualities to equip students to transform the world for Christ and His kingdom.

Additional Personal Qualities: 

The employee shall:

1. Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task.

2. Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance and punctuality.

3. Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity and optimism.

4. Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste and agreement with school policy.

5. Have a strong command of the English language in both verbal and written communication.

6. Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority. 

7. Notify the Head of School of any policy that he/she is unable to support. 

8. Refuse to use or circulate confidential information.

9. Place his/her OCS position ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities. 

10. Make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the OCS community.
