OVERVIEW The Development Coordinator (DC) is responsible for cultivating donor relationships through phone calls, other strategic touchpoints, and requests that ultimately helps provide Chattanooga Preparatory School (Chattanooga Prep) with a strong, ongoing base of financial support.
Essential to the role is a fundamental, healthy view of giving. This understanding needs to be evident in the life of the individual, who must be able to persuasively speak to others about generosity from his or her own personal experience.
Alongside this, it is also important that this individual have a proper perspective of wealth. A DC should not be enamored or intimidated in the presence of those who have wealth. Additionally, a DC must have an understanding of protocol and an ability to feel comfortable in a setting outside their own social structure.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the internal operations of the annual fundraising efforts, including strategic and tactical planning, segmentation, and communications.
Draft and execute yearly development communications plan.
Serve as the point person for developing and maintaining procedures and policies related to gifts. Direct the acknowledgment process, monitoring daily for compliance. Ensure that donors to the organization are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner.
Direct the processing of gift income and pledges to the school to ensure that monies are recorded in proper accounts and donors are acknowledged. Provide regular and comprehensive reporting on all gift income.
Ensure that the information reporting and data processing functions of the department are met.
Ensure that donor prospect information and research needs are met, and that cultivation efforts and contacts are recorded and tracked.
Work with the staff to determine data entry policies and to maintain the accuracy and relevance of data.
Coordinate the completion of the annual reports on fundraising and development. Develop special reports and studies as requested by the President/CEO.
Coordinate and assist with the drafting and publishing of outward-facing printed and digital materials for communication to donors and the broader community.
Cultivate and steward mid-level donors through phone calls and other communications, in order to develop a strong base of financial support for Chattanooga Prep.
Manage portfolio relationships by creating and carrying out communication plans for each donor in the portfolio.
Collaborate with other members of the development team on fundraising strategies and approaches.
Set short-term and long-term goals for fundraising work, including goals on calls, touchpoints, requests, and funding.
Provide documentation and reporting on interactions with donors to track and analyze development efforts prospects.
Assist with programming and events involving development.
Make recommendations to personnel involved in fundraising and provide key information on donors.
Other duties in the area of fundraising and development, as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Two years of work experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or other related area
Must be known and respected and in good standing with his or her community

SPECIFICATIONS
The DC position is a full-time position that is eligible for 401K, PTO, and insurance benefits per Chattanooga Prep policy.
