Job Description - Development Events Manager

Description

Hudson Institute seeks a development events manager to lead planning and execution of all institutional development events, with a primary focus on major donor events. The development events manager coordinates closely with development team members, senior leadership, trustees, donors, and staff across the organization. This position demands an individual with keen organizational and planning skills, along with the ability to balance a number of different projects at any one time. Routine travel, particularly to New York, is required. This is a full-time position based out of Hudson’s Washington, DC office, reporting to the development team’s senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manages logistics for Hudson development events, including scheduling, vendor coordination, seating arrangements, and database management.
  • Manages development communications, including save-the-dates, invitations, RSVP tracking, follow-ups, sponsorship outreach, thank-you correspondence, and targeted mailings.
  • Represents Hudson Institute at prominent events to build partnerships and expand organizational visibility.
  • Expands Hudson Institute’s donors programs to new strategic markets.
  • Serves as primary contact for Hudson scholars and VIP speakers, coordinating their participation and requirements for all development events.
  • Coordinates Hudson staff involvement in development events, managing internal participation and communication.
  • Supports additional development projects as needed based on organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Commitment to Hudson Institute’s mission and supporting the work of the Institute’s scholars and staff. 
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum two years of event planning experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional and tactful demeanor.
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong independent work ethic combined with effective collaborative skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commitment to acting with integrity and the utmost professionalism, particularly when handling confidential information.
