Classification:  Full-time, Exempt

Position Reports to:  Executive Director of the Foundation

Location:  Carlsbad, CA – hybrid schedule, Tue & Thu in office

Salary Range:  $85,000-$95,000

Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

JOB OVERVIEW

The NAMM Foundation seeks a dynamic and results-driven Development Manager to help lead fundraising operations and donor engagement that advance the Foundation’s mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Manager will manage all aspects of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, build lasting relationships with individual and institutional donors, and drive campaigns that sustain and expand key programs.

This is a critical role for a fundraising professional looking to make a tangible impact on music education, community engagement, and cultural access.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development Strategy and Execution

  • Partner with the Executive Director to design and implement an annual Development Plan to meet revenue goals and deepen donor engagement across programs, including scholarship funds, Global Grantmaking, the Consider a Career in Music initiative, the Museum of Making Music, and others as assigned.
  • Manage all aspects of fundraising operations, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grant writing/reporting for the Museum of Making Music.
  • Monitor fundraising trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to inform strategies and ensure compliance domestically and internationally. 

Donor Relations and Stewardship

  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors through personalized communication, stewardship, and impact reporting.
  • Manage and maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce CRM, ensuring timely tracking and reporting of engagement activities.
  • Actively cultivate a pipeline of prospective donors at all stages of the engagement cycle.

 Campaigns and Events

  • Collaborate  with the Senior Program Officer to create digital fundraising campaigns, direct mail initiatives, and donor publications.
  • Manage the planning and execution of donor engagement and fundraising events. 

Research and Data Management

  • Identify new funding opportunities and donor prospects through proactive research and networking.
  • Track and analyze development activities, donor engagement metrics, and fundraising results to evaluate effectiveness and refine future strategies.

 Grants Management

  • Lead the grant writing and reporting processes for the Museum of Making Music and other initiatives as assigned.

 General

  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture dedicated to advancing the mission of The NAMM Foundation.
  • Occasional travel for donor meetings, events, and Foundation programs and the annual NAMM Show.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree or fundraising certifications (e.g., CFRE) a plus.
  • Minimum 5-7 years demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Experience managing multi-channel fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience with CRM systems required; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to implement and execute plans under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor cultivation cycles, and grant writing.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a high-performing, cross-functional team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to represent The NAMM Foundation both internally and externally at the highest professional level.

However, at the Trade Shows, the noise level is usually high. Hearing protection is provided.
