The Design for Service (DFS) organization improves vehicle serviceability on next-generation Ford vehicle programs, platforms, features and components. This occurs through cross-functional partnership and integration with product development hardware and software teams throughout early development phases. The DFS Diagnostic Design Specialist is responsible for influencing the design of software-controlled systems and software-enabled features to reduce Cost Per Repair (CPR), resulting in future warranty cost avoidance and best-in-class cost of ownership. The DFS Diagnostic Design Specialist’s core responsibilities are:
This specialist should be an expert in dealership technician diagnosis and repair processes across all vehicle systems. This will allow them to bridge the gap between diagnostic solutions for engineering purposes versus sustainable and repeatable diagnostic processes at dealerships and other service facilities. They should possess an understanding of modern automotive electrical and network architecture, and comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic scan tool functionality.
